I should probably admit that I can turn choosing a restaurant into a small research project, then change my mind. I enjoy stories with a sense of place and the questions that open a whole evening. I like people who can be themselves without narrating the process. I like a little life around me and conversations that keep moving naturally. I like a rough direction, a few good options, and room for a story to appear. Elegance works best for me when it still feels comfortable. I feel most comfortable when the energy is warm, the conversation is mutual, and nobody is rushing. The best encounters gather detail, warmth, and meaning almost without asking to be noticed. A little character goes a long way with me. The atmosphere should support the people in it. I like leaving some room around the plan.
