I like the feeling of a room settling around two people who are no longer trying to impress each other. I bring a calm presence and usually notice more than I say right away. I’m attentive without making a ceremony of it. I can make a simple decision sound like a discussion, mostly because I enjoy the discussion. I like having something to work towards, while remembering that pleasure belongs in a good life too. I like an evening that feels deliberate, then becomes more relaxed as it goes. I feel most comfortable when the energy is warm, the conversation is mutual, and nobody is rushing. I like the kind of evening that leaves no grand conclusion, only the sense that something worth keeping has begun. A little character goes a long way with me.
